ADO, pseudonym of Sato Ado :

Painter, serigrapher. Abstract.
Son of Key Sato, hence the choice of his first name as a pseudonym. He graduated in 1960 from the history of aesthetics section of Keio University, Tokyo. He came to France in 1962, to Paris where his father, Key Sato, had made himself known and totally settled. He participated in numerous group exhibitions, including: Trends in contemporary Japanese art in 1970 at the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, Contemporary Japanese Artists in 1971 at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and in the main cities. of Belgium, Contemporary French engravings in the modern art museums of Aix-la-Chapelle and several cities in Germany in 1972, etc. In Paris, he also appears in the Salons Comparaisons, Grands et Jeunes d'aujourd'hui, Réalités Nouvelles since 1965. He was selected for the Biennale des Jeunes de Paris from 1965 to 1971. He participated in numerous engraving biennials. Either in painting or in serigraphy, numerous personal exhibitions since 1964, in London, Paris, Luxembourg, Museum of Verviers in Belgium, Tokyo, Toulouse, Cannes, Madrid, New York, Liège, Ghent, Museum of modern art in the city of Paris (ARC) in 1971, Brussels, etc. He has received numerous accolades. Since his beginnings, he has evolved quite considerably, especially as regards the themes, because the technique, the invoice, on the contrary, has remained, a frequent characteristic among Japanese painters of his generation, very icy, what has been called the cold abstraction. In a period of his development in the 1970s, under the guise of abstract and austerely geometric symbols, he often played with forms from the arsenal of the sexual organs. At the end of the 80s, he adopted a technique of surfaces covered with kinds of nails. In a beautiful text dedicated to him by a certain CC, this one lists in conclusion the points that he did not treat there, which is a way of indicating that these different points exist there : "The poetry of Ado's works, The sexual in his works, The relationship between Ado's painting and his work as a designer, The Japanese character of Ado's Painting."
